Julia Santos y Pablo Montero crecieron juntos en un pueblo entre los cañaverales del estado de Veracruz hasta que un trágico accidente mata el mama de Julia, Margarita, y el padre de Pablo, Amador, levantando la sospecha que ellos hiban a huir juntos. Doce años despues, Pablo regresa al pueblo para formalizar con su novia, una muchacha superficial e interesada.
