Synopsis

Gilda Barreto was a poor girl living a simple life with her godmother...that is, until she met, married, and conceived a child with wealthy Remundo Landayeta, which suddenly thrust her into high society. However, disagreements with Remundo\'s family soon had Gilda back on the street. She finds work as a singer, \"Coral,\" and thus meets Raúl de la Pena. But Gilda, unfortunately, is then falsely accused of murder and is sent to jail while Raúl pleads with his mother to share evidence that will acquit her. Gilda is released, but then finds competition for Raúl\'s love in Marixa. Gilda also finds out that her father was Marixa\'s abusive brother, Braulio, who resents Gilda for not being able to convict her. Gilda must continually face the double-challenge of protecting her child, Asunción, from kidnappers, car wrecks and plane crashes, while also vying for Raúl\'s love. Raúl, meanwhile, slowly learns that he will find no other woman quite like Gilda.
