This melodrama features an awkward, shy girl named Rosita Amado (Genises Rodriguez), who struggles to find love, fulfillment and acceptance. Their lives will interlace when Juan chooses her to take his place and teaches her the secret recipe. So Rosita heads to Florida to fulfill her grandfather's last wish, bringing her great-aunt Dulce (Maria Antonieta de las Nieves), her uncle, Diosdado (Ricardo Chavez), and the rest of her extended family with her. Meanwhile Bruce's mother, Grace Remington, (Kristina Lilley), an unscrupulous and overly ambitious woman (and Juan's stepdaughter) is claiming that the factory is near bankruptcy and ruthlessly plots against Rosita, becoming the young girl's most dedicated enemy. Grace wants the inheritance and the secret recipe. She enlists the help of her son's lover, Samantha Porter, (Karla Monroig), and talk Bruce into seducing Rosita.
When Bruce realizes that he truly loves Rosita, his mother has already plotted her downfall. Rosita must confront the Remington and fight for her grandfather's legacy. Meanwhile, Ángel Pérez (Khotan), a brutal, dangerous man from the past threatens Rosita's fresh start.

La historia comienza en Chinches Bravos, un humilde pueblecito de México. Azucena, su prima, también llega con ella, pues las dos han estado estudiando juntas. Mientras, en Estados Unidos, el abuelo de la chica sufre un infarto y es ingresado en el hospital. Hace mucho tiempo que Juan Amado decidió emigrar. La muerte de su única hija al dar a luz a Rosita le dejó destrozado. Cuando llegó a Norteamérica, el hombre empezó a trabajar como jardinero en la lujosa mansión de Ann Remington, una rica viuda con la que terminaría casándose. Matrimonio que Grace, hija de la millonaria, nunca aceptó.
